The Long Road to Spain

The Long Road to Spain

Hello!

The last month and half has been filled with what I would call a long road. We listened to a cute book yesterday called A Long Road on a Short Day about a son and father bartering a knife for a milking cow in the late 1800s. There was a blizzard out and they went in search of trading for a cow. It was amazing to see how they could trade up all the way to the cow. If you have littles and want a cozy book, I recommend reading or listening to it.

All of that to say, I feel that is what our journey to Spain has looked like, A long road on a short day.

Not Apart of the Mission?

We are at 70% of fully funded. We ask that you pray and see if God is prompting you to join us as a monthly supporter or give a one time gift that will go toward moving expenses or flights.

In January, we had a call with Isabelle and Elli. For those of you who are new here, they are the women who run Mision de Betel that we will be working with in Spain. Isabelle is the director. Originally, we were thinking that we would not be able to apply for the visas until we were fully funded and our deadline was quickly approaching at the end of January before the invitation letter would expire. Kyle and I were not sure what would happen after that, but we had resigned ourselves that God would make a way regardless. On the call, we were pleased to discover we could go ahead and apply while we continue to trust God to bring full funding. We scrambled to gather all the remaining items and were able to send them in the following week. So, by the grace of God, our visa applications are in and pending!

In addition to the visa application, we had a steady flow of showings on our house in January that slowed in February. One or two seemed promising, but did not go anywhere. So, with much prayer and trust, we have taken our house off the market for the moment and are praying how to proceed with it. Please be praying for wisdom about our house and for God to provide a buyer or renter or a solution for when we leave.

Lastly, we are so thankful for Amy Glass at Broken by Design, a mosaic workshop company. She held a fundraiser for us February 21 and we were able to raise a good portion of money to go toward our insurance for Spain. We had to prebuy the year and it was a huge out of pocket cost that God has slowly been providing for. Each time we have needed money, we didn’t know where it would come from but God has provided it in the end. Not when we would like it, but in His timing. It keeps us going when the next expense comes up. We think “ok, well God provided the last bit, so we will move forward and trust he will provide this one, too.” It’s like finding food on a long journey, just enough to get you to the next food. He is faithful!

We are at 70% funded. Praise God! If you know anyone who would love to hear our story and join us as prayer partners, or financial partners, please reach out to Kyle or I.

Thank you for all your prayers and support! We are going through the daily living of life right now, as my mom said about her journey with my dad…Like a blanket hanging over us. The expectation of it is to come but we continue to have to handle the things here. We expect approval of the visas to come back in the next two to three weeks then we will be purchasing our plane tickets there.

Too Long Didn’t Read:

- Our Visas were applied for in January, we are awaiting approvals and expect them in the next 2-3 weeks.

- We had a mosaic fundraiser Feb. 21, and are praising God for the money raised

- Our house is still something we are working to figure out what to do with. Pray for wisdom and a solution

- We will be purchasing our plane tickets as soon as we have visa approvals.

Prayer Requests:

- Visa Approvals

– The transition. It is overwhelming the things we are having to give up and the new culture/lifestyle we will be acquiring. Pray for grace and peace as we do that

– Divine Appointments here and there

– Solution for our House

– House and space for the boys to play when we get there. A car in Spain

– Endurance

We press on toward the goal, knowing that he who promised is faithful.

Our verse right now:

“The land we passed through and explored is exceedingly good. If the Lord is pleased with us, he will lead us into that land, a land flowing with milk and honey, and will give it to us. Only do not rebel against the Lord. And do not be afraid of the people of the land, because we will devour them. Their protection is gone, but the Lord is with us. Do not be afraid of them.”

Numbers 14: 7-9

Please reply with any prayer requests you have. We would love to be praying with you or to be an encouragement to you!

20 Now may the God of peace, who brought up from the dead our Lord Jesus—the great Shepherd of the sheep—through the blood of the everlasting covenant, 21 equip you with everything good to do his will, working in us what is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.” Hebrews 13:20-21
